This morning, our team reflected on Acts 17:28-29 and Romans 8:1-17 – precious reminders from God's Word of who we are in Christ. "For in him we live and move and have our being... For we are indeed his offspring." (Acts 17:28) Paul assures us: because of the Spirit, we are no longer slaves to fear, but beloved children able to cry, "Abba, Father."
We spent time honestly considering: If the Spirit truly lives in us, how are we tangibly living out our adoption as God's children? What does it look like, in Japan or at home, to call upon the Father with childlike trust instead of seeking security in lesser things? Each of us has fears – about acceptance, failure or control – that tempt us toward self-reliance or idols. Yet today, we were reminded that nothing can separate us from Christ. Only as we rest in our Father's love do we become free to serve, to risk, and to point others to our true hope.
This afternoon marked the start of our MK camp. Nathan shared the story of John the Baptist (Matthew 14:1-12), God's promises to Zechariah and Mary (Luke 1), and Jesus as the true Light (John 1). The message: sharing the good news is sometimes hard and may come with cost, but we serve a faithful God whose love casts out fear.
Afterwards, we brought the MKs to a local amusement center – think a blend of Dave & Buster's and YMCA! Joy, laughter, and a sense of community filled the space. As we look ahead to the next days with the children, please pray the Lord would strengthen our team, open hearts, and allow play to build friendships that reflect Christ's welcome.
A special praise: Today, our brother Kaji submitted his final ordination papers! Lord willing, he will be ordained and installed as senior pastor at Nisshin Christ Church this fall. Please pray for God's sustaining grace on Kaji – may the Lord steady and equip him for this weighty and joyful calling.
Thank you for partnering with us through prayer and encouragement. "The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God" (Romans 8:16) – this is our anchor as we serve together for His glory.
Here are some pictures from today!
